Shop Talk: SHELLAC vs GELISH

SHELLAC vs GELISH... I frequently get asked all the time, what's the difference between these two hybrid gel polishes? I simply put it...its like choosing between COKE & PEPSI.
Both companies have been leading the nail industry with their nail products for decades and have now perfected their own versions of the "gel soak off" system. SHELLAC offers 30 colors and GELISH offers 72 colors.

If you are not familiar or haven't heard what the buzz is all about, these products apply like regular nail polish, wears like gel and removes in minutes. Its pretty exciting, nail color that lasts for weeks without chipping. Imagine typing or doing house chores without any worry of ruining your nails.

The pretty process...

Booking an appointment, you can either ask for a "SHELLAC manicure/pedicure or GELISH manicure/pedicure. Prices should range between $15-$25 added on top of a manicure or pedicure.

When arriving to your appointment, you will be asked to choose a color. A manicure or pedicure should then follow. Your nails are then ready for the gel application.

The application...
1) The natural shine of the nails should have been lightly buffed off.
2) A cleanser/nail prep solution is then applied.
3) A base coat is applied, then cured in a UV light for 30 seconds - 2 minutes, depending on the type of light.
4) At least 2 coats of colors are applied, cured again in the UV light.
5) Your nails are then finished with a top coat, cured for the last time in the UV light, then the cleanser is to wipe off the tacky surface.

It's that simple! Say good bye to chips and smudges. You're now ready to have weeks of long lasting color. At SHINE NAIL BAR. we offer both SHELLAC and GELISH. Let one of our nail technicians help you choose over 50+ colors available.
